Privacy

We collect as little as we can get away with, and we treat what you share with us with the care we'd want shown to us. This page explains, plainly, what we hold and why.

Who we are

A Good Place is a curated guide to places worth knowing across the United Kingdom, published from Somerset. If you have a question about anything on this page, or about your information, write to us at contact@heidihowe.co.uk and we will reply.

For UK data protection law, we are the "controller" of your information because we decide how it is used.

What we collect and why

When you create an account: your email address, a password, and – if you sign in with Google – your name as Google shares it. We use this to create and maintain your account. This is necessary for the service you've asked for.

When you save a place or a wishlist item: we keep a record linking that item to your account, so your list is there when you return. Only you can see it.

Technical records: our hosting provider keeps standard security logs (such as timestamps of sign-ins) to keep the site safe and working. These are not used to profile you or follow you around the internet.

We do not collect anything else. There is no advertising, tracking or analytics on the site today.

Who else can see your information

The site runs on Lovable Cloud, which provides our hosting, database and sign-in system; your information is stored securely there. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in and shares your name and email address with us – its own privacy notice applies to its side of things. We never sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. If you'd like us to delete it, write to us and we will remove your account and everything saved to it – usually within a few days.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy of it to take elsewhere. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information – though we'd hope you'd talk to us first.

Write to contact@heidihowe.co.uk to use any of these rights. We'll respond within a month.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on the sign-in page before it takes effect. This page always tells the current truth; see also our Terms and Cookies pages.
